Alice + Olivia Debuts Fall/Winter 2021 Gossip Girl Inspired Collection
NEW YORK NY (FEBRUARY 16, 2021): Fall 2021 feels like a new season in so many ways, so to celebrate Stacey Bendet made this collection an ode to New York City and its enduring, iconic style. Where better to stage this fete than in an Upper East Side townhouse, where uptown revels with downtown, and excitement meets sophistication. Classic plaids, tweeds, and houndstooth feel brand new mixed with denim and vegan leather, accessorized with regency glamour-inspired pearls and lace, sumptuous updos and bold romantic makeup. Styled in collaboration with Gossip Girl’s Eric Daman, this collection is the debut of everything we love and missed, giving new life to New York.
A palette of black, white, and red with pops of bold citron feels decidedly modern on boucle tweed and lush faux fur jackets, fun party dresses, and floor length gowns. It’s the perfect mix of uptown and downtown: sequins and smocking, high collars and high hemlines.
Daman styled the original Gossip Girl and is also behind the reboot. His penchant for pearls, plaid and texture makes for the perfect crossover with Stacey Bendet, whose original vision for New York style is reflected in the city’s Fall 2021 reboot. Coming back along with Gossip Girl is the early aughts low-rise bootcut pant, reimagined in hip-hugging houndstooth and paired with red faux fur, the juxtaposition of romance and rock-and-roll.
Nods to Regency style bring an elegant air to the season (one of dances, fair romance, and fond conversation, we hope). Hair is glamorously piled high and dotted with crystals and pearls. Empire waistlines, tweed corsets, sheer puff sleeves and shiny black-and-gold brocade are fit for a ball…or the steps of the Met. All the downtown details, from leather insert denim with lace, to corset tops with gold chains are styled alongside quintessential Upper East Sider scalloped lace collars, pleated plaid, and ornate embroideries.
The modern-day Gossip Girl lives for glamorous New York moments, and knows how precious they are.
